It was on the 11 of January 2019 at the conference hall of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education
The handing over ceremony of the financial support funds to Cameroonian athletes of the 2017 Francophonie Games was co-chaired by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI and the Secretary General of the Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers of French speaking (CONFEJES), BOURAMAH ALI Harouna.
Speaking at the occasion, the august visitor after congratulating the Sports boss for renewed confidence from the Head of State H.E Paul BIYA, he continued that this endeavor from his Institution is geared towards boosting the morals of athletes so that they can work harder to win more medals. Cameroon being the first country to receive CONFEJES financial support grants by meritorious athletes, the Secretary General called on others institutions both national and international to emulate the gesture of his Organization in a bit to encourage African athletes as a whole.
Minister Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI on his part and on behalf of the Government of Cameroon expressed gratitude to CONFEJES for her constant support to young Cameroonian sportsmen and women. He equally called on the athletes to make proper use of the support funds awarded to them. He also cautioned the athletes to show proof of firmness and fighting spirit in their quest for excellence. The Sports chief reminded the recipients that the international recognition that they have receive was a call for them to redouble their effort to always defend the good image and always lift high the flag of Cameroon during competitions. In all, the meritorious athletes that were drawn from the Athletics, Judo and the Wrestling disciplines, backed home 300.000FCFA each for a silver medal and 250.000FCFA each for a bronze medal.
