NEW YEAR WISHES AT MINSEP

Philosophy and methodology of work for 2019 prescribed

This was done during the ceremony to offer New Year wishes to the Sports and Physical Education Boss, Professor Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI by personnel of the central and devolved services of his ministerial department, officials of the national sports movement as well as attached and titular services under the Sports Ministry that took place on January 17, 2019 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.

A moment to say happy New Year Mr. Minister, an occasion to present the balance sheet of activities of the institution, an instant to orientate and institute a focus and the way forward on the manner in which issues will unfold throughout the year, indeed a merry making and feasting day for the officials and entire staff of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, partners and actors of the national sports movement. During the celebrations, some meritorious officials and staff of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education were decorated. Attestations were also handed to others who happened to have served the nation whole heartedly and were now called to rest.

The speech making part of the event was introduced by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Zachée Robert  Théophile BENGA who gave a complete balance sheet of the preceding year, 2018. In his address, the Secretary General also revealed the efforts made by each and every one towards the efficient accomplishment of the missions of the ministry though in a context that was at times difficult.

On his part, the Sports Boss in his address, evoked a general theme for the year 2019, “Sports and Physical Activities in Cameroon: a device for social cohesion and foundation for great opportunities”. He emphasized that it is this theme that will structure, buttress and infuse the political vision of the activities of MINSEP within this New Year.

The Minister while evoking some key projects of the Sports and Physical Education Ministry, insisted thatwe must focus all our efforts on the preparation of the up-coming AFCON which our country will host in 2021, with the objective of making it a reality, following the very high instructions of the President of the Republic. Other projects on which attention will be base in 2019 include: the promotion of the new law No 2018/014 of 11 July 2018 relating to the organization and promotion of physical and sporting activities in Cameroon. It is also urgent and necessary that all the texts of application of this important law be drafted to make it more operational and the elaboration of the texts to set the modalities of management of sports facilities. He emphasized.

MINSEP also made mention that priorities will also be focused on the participation of our various selections and national teams in international sports competitions, promoting and popularizing physical activities within the various different social strata,  improve on the working conditions of the staff, reviving the activities of the National Institute of Youth and Sports(NIYS) and the various CENAJES which must undergo salutary readjustments, improve on the teaching of sports and physical education in the education system and  pursuing the process of implementing the Sports Talent Detection and Training Program in all disciplines. Thus, the National Football Academy, ANAFOOT which started its activities in 2017, must stand as the laboratory whose experience should strongly influence that of other sports disciplines.

The Minister then unveiled and prescribed a philosophy and working methodology to adopt in MINSEP for  2019, characterized by three fundamental points so as to succeed in this colossal task: firstly will be the conception and implementation of winning strategies and innovation, secondly the efficient mobilization of all resources and energy available and finally the construction of a positive synergy for the realization of priority objectives to attain superlative results at the national and international levels.
