The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI, President of COCAN, accompanied by the Governor of the Centre Region , Yaounde Site Committee President and all involved partner administrations representatives, visited this day,  23rd July 2020, construction works on the Yaounde Olembe Sports Complex. The exact situation of works progression rate on the site as of 26th June 2020 to this day is as follow: 1) Main Stadium: - The athletic track: still to be   layed out but already, the machine necessary to perform the work is positioned on the field; - External finishings of the West zone is complete: with a nice panoramic view made of mud blocks decoration; - Media press zone already set; - Presidential tribune still to be finished with the division of zones into VIP and VVIP zone; Sown two months ago, the lawn  is growing well progressively. Treatment of areas sown is monitored by experts recruted to this effect. 2) The Commercial Centre - Compartment of streets is still ongoing but it is possible as from now, to easily circulate with a vehicule; - A small lighting system meant for the commercial centre is installed and functional through a generator; 3) The Cinema - Separations already done for the three Cinema Halls with metalic rails. 4) The food and nutrition zones are also up to date; 5) For the annex stadiums: - The lawn is gradually becoming green; - Installation of all cameras and sound system appliances. 6) Finally, the main entrance meant for the public: vomitories totally built; The metallic fence of the annex B stadium is also almost complete and visible from the main entrance. The Minister expressed his satisfaction regarding the rate of progress of works on the Olembe Sports Complex which is gradually finishing. Rendez vous is taken for the next visit with many interesting things to discover.

Monsieur YERIMA Joseph, le nouveau Secrétaire Général du Ministère des Sports et de l’Education Physique jouit d’une forte expérience professionnelle doublée d’un parcours académique remarquable. Né le 4 aout 1969 à BONGO, dans l’Arrondissement de Bétaré Oya, il est originaire de l’Arrondissement de Garoua Boulaï,   Département Lom et Djerem, Région de l’Est. Il est titulaire d’un Baccalauréat A4 obtenu en 1989, d’une Licence et d’un Master 1 en Droit privé obtenus respectivement en 1993 et en 2009 à l’Université de Yaoundé 2 à Soa. En 2002, il sort de l’ENAM nanti du Diplôme en Administration Générale. Il est aujourd’hui Administrateur Civil Principal. Parallèlement à son riche parcours académique, le nouveau Secrétaire Général a accumulé des formations et suivi de nombreux stages de perfectionnement dans des structures prestigieuses nationales et internationales sur plusieurs thématiques notamment: Cycle International Spécialisé de l’Administration Publique à l’ENA de Paris sur les modules « gestion des ressources humaines et management dans la Fonction Publique et « corruption, réalités économiques et méthodes de lutte » ; Programme Intégré de Management  (PRIMA) à l’Institut Supérieur de Management Public ;Nouvelle nomenclature budgétaire ; préparation et exécution du Budget de l’Etat ;Etude de la langue chinoise à l’Ecole Normale de JINHUA en Chine ; Formation en théologie à l’Institut Luthérien de Théologie de Meiganga   ; En ce qui concerne son cursus professionnel, le nouveau Secrétaire Général a été successivement Chef de Service du Personnel au Ministère des Transports en 2004, puis sous-directeur des personnels, de la Solde et des Pensions dans le même ministère en 2008. En 2010, il est nommé Directeur du Développement Technologique et de la Propriété Intellectuelle au Ministère des Mines, de l’Industrie et du Développement Technologique. Depuis 2012, il était le Secrétaire Général du Ministère de la Jeunesse et de l’Education Civique.  Marié et père de six enfants, le nouveau Secrétaire Général du Ministère des Sports et de l’Education Physique est en outre un militant actif du Rassemblement Démocratique du Peuple Camerounais.

Officially installed in his functions on 7th July 2020 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex, Joseph YERIMA will be the one to coordinate the administrative activities of the Sports and Physical Education Ministry. The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI Chaired  the solemn installation ceremony that witnessed the presence a number of members of government , officials of MINSEP and well-wishers who came from far and near to cheer up the new Secretary general.   Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of sports and Physical Education started by lauding the incoming Secretary General, Joseph YERIMA on behalf of the Sports movement in general for the Head of State’s renewed confidence on him to now pilot the administrative activities of his ministerial department. MINSEP also used the opportunity to thank the out-going Secretary General, BENGA Zachee Robert Theophile for his brilliant passage in the Ministry of sports and Physical Education and enormous contribution in the handling of some sensitive documents of this ministry. The Minister during the ceremony recalled the main objective assigned to the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education to the new man in command on the aspect of consolidating the health of the population and promoting the image of Cameroon through the achievement of high level sporting performances. He continued that the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education acts daily for the consolidation of the three strategic axes defined by the DSCE, namely: the supervision of the sports movement, the development of sports infrastructure and governance and support institutions in the Sports and Physical Education Subsector. The Mr. YERIMA was made to understand that being the main collaborator of the Minister, he is supposed to: - coordinate the action of the central administration and devolved services of the ministry and hold coordination meetings for this purpose, the minutes of which are sent to the Minister; - define and codifies the internal procedures of the Ministry; - ensure the permanent training of staff and organizes, under the authority of the Minister, seminars and training courses for retraining, advanced training or specialization; - follow, under the authority of the Minister, the action of the attached services, the action programs of which he approves and receives activity reports; - ensure fast processing of files centralizes the archives and manages the documentation of the Ministry. The new administrative boss was also commissioned on some very urgent files that needed quick attention like the preparations linked to the organization in Cameroon of the Total CHAN Cameroon in January 2021 and Total AFCON Cameroon 2022, wherein the very high hierarchy grants particular interest in its success. The new central administrative boss who hail from  Garoua Boulai in the Loma md Djerem Division of the East Region and more precisely in Bongo in the Betare Oya Sub-division is aware of the challenges awaiting him and has promised to work hard to surmount these challenges.

Le mercredi 10 juin 2020, s’est tenue dans la salle des Conférence du Ministère des Sports et de l’Education Physique(MINSEP), la cérémonie de remise des matériels sanitaire et d’hygiène aux Directeurs des CENAJES de Bamenda, Garoua, Dschang et Bertoua, présidée par le Pr. Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI,  Ministre des Sports et de l’Education Physique. Objectif : barrer la voie à la pandémie du coronavirus au sein des structures de formation des cadres moyens du MINSEP. Outre Messieurs BENGA Zachée Robert Théophile, Secrétaire Général du MINSEP et DISSAKE MBARGA Michel, Inspecteur Général des Services, l’ensemble des Directeurs des services centraux et des quatre CENAJES ont pris part à cette cérémonie qui comprenait cinq articulations majeures. Après l’exécution de l’hymne national, l’Inspecteur de Pédagogie M. BELLA Eves a procédé à la présentation du matériel offert à savoir   des cartons de savon, des masques, des thermo-flashs, des gels hydro alcooliques, des désinfectants, des thermomètres, des seaux robinets et des distributeurs de gel entre autres. Un geste de magnanimité salué par les bénéficiaires qui, par l’entremise de leur porte-parole, Mme BIFON Theresa, Directrice du CENAJES de Bamenda, a remercié le Ministre pour ce don et lui a promis d’en faire bon usage.    Dans son discours de circonstance, le Ministre des Sports et de l’Education Physique, le Pr. Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI a tenu à rappeler que la suspension des cours dans les CENAJES était consécutive aux mesures éditées par le Gouvernement dans le cadre de la lutte contre le Covid-19. En demandant aux différents Chefs de Structures de rester vigilants, il a prescrit que les matériels soient mis à la disposition  des apprenants afin que l’année académique arrive à son terme dans de bonnes conditions.  .  Aussi, a-t-il rappelé que les modifications apportées sur les emplois de temps devront être méticuleusement respectées. De plus, il a recommandé de solliciter un personnel de santé qualifié pour assurer la prise en charge de cas éventuels. Il a terminé son propos en souhaitant aux quatre Directeurs un bon retour dans leurs différentes localités ainsi qu’une meilleure fin d’année d’apprentissage. Par la suite, le Ministre a procédé à une remise symbolique en salle de quelques kits, l’essentiel du matériel étant installé à l’extérieur. La cérémonie s’est achevée  à travers quelques photos souvenirs autour du Ministre qui s’est par la suite retiré afin de laisser cours au séminaire de sensibilisation sur le Covid-19 et l’usage du matériel sanitaire octroyé.  Sous la houlette de la Sous-Direction de la Médecine Sportive qui a fait appel au Dr. MANYIM Florence , responsable de cette structure, ce séminaire a permis d’édifier les participants sur la pandémie et l’ensemble des mesures à adopter pour y faire face. Le Dr. MANYIM a rappelé que cette maladie apparue en Chine est causée par le virus CORONA. Elle s’est rapidement répandue dans le monde et se manifeste par une toux sèche, l’écoulement nasal, une fièvre et une détresse respiratoire pouvant conduire à la mort. De plus, elle a précisé que les personnes à risque sont les gens du 3e âge, les nouveaux nés, les personnes atteintes de troubles respiratoires et qu’elle se transmet d’homme à homme.  Par ailleurs, elle a précisé qu’aucun traitement ou vaccin n’a encore été élaboré. A ce titre, elle a invité les uns et les autres à respecter les mesures de prévention telles le port des masques, le lavage des mains à l’eau coulante et au savon ou du gel hydro-alcoolique et le respect de la distanciation physique.

The sports community has been questioning on the aspects concerning the organisation of the 2020 Africa Nations Championship in Cameroon, notably on the date of commencement and the hosting towns or sites. These questions were answered on the 4th of November 2019 during the installation ceremony of the members of the technical Commissions, monitoring commissions and the Yaounde site Coordinator and his Assistant. Speaking during the ceremony at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, President of COCAN 20 -21 presented the road map of the competition. First and famous the date of the competition. The Cameroon 2020 TOTAL CHAN shall take place from the 4th to the 25th of April 2020. The Minister continued with the sites that shall host the competition which included the Yaounde, Douala- Japoma, Douala – Bepanda and Buea – Limbe. Coming back to what motivated the choice of the sites, the Sports Boss clarified that this was based on the report of the last CAF visit that did not only indicated preferential sites of the 2020 CHAN but it also specified their exigencies and priorities. Cameroon from the onset proposed to use the six sites that will host the 2021 AFCON but CAF decided to use just four of the sites as mentioned above. Though kept aside for the 2020 CHAN, the Garoua and Bafoussam sites still remain hosting sites for major sporting competitions and particularly the 2021 AFCON the Minister insisted.   To the members of the different organising structures, the Minister cautioned them to be up to the task. He insisted that they are supposed to be courageous and happy to have been called upon to be part of this exalting and historic making event. Our main objective should be the collective organisational success of the 2020 CHAN, the Minister pinpointed.   During this very substantial ceremony that witnessed the presence of the Minister of Transport, Jean MASSENA NGALLE BIBEHE, representatives of many members of government, administrative authorities, the President of FECAFOOT, Vice President of COCAN, the logo of the organising committee was unveiled. In prelude to this installation ceremony, MINSEP, President of COCAN launched a call for contest of a National artistic competition for the proposal of the official mascot and anthem of this competition. Cameroonian Artists have up to the 15th of November 2019 to present their bids to COCAN 20 -21. It is clearly seen that, with the installation of the organisational structures of CHAN 2020 and which will be completed in the days ahead by the site committees, the preparatory events of the competition are irreversibly on the rail
