It started with an introduction by the representative of the CNOSC who indicated that the initiative is highly supported by their organization. Then he gave the floor to the president of the ATHLETES COMMISSION, Miss NGON NTAME VICTOIRE who proceeded by presenting the reasons for which they requested the audience in the first place. These reasons includes: presenting a general overview of the A.C, it's missions, it's objectives, and their plan of action for the 21-25 mandate. Placed under the slogan one athlete commission, one voice.
Thus, it was created in 2019 by the CNOSC with the aim of, speaking on behalf of athletes, defending their rights and giving them the place they deserve within the sport movement, given that, they are actually the main actors but are often neglected.
As immediate actions, they intend:
- gathering informations on various opportunities which athletes can benefit from. Some, while still in action, and others at the end of their sporting career.
- requesting for the organization the upcoming workshop on the career transition opportunities through the platform ATHLETES 365
she ended her presentation by pleading for the support of the ministry of sports and physical Education, to accompany them and facilitating the achievement of their goal.
Taking the floor, the Minister congratulated the president as well as all her team (7 of them) for their election at the head of the Athletes Commission of Cameroon. He further appreciated the collaboration between them and the CNOSC and promised to do same to the best of their capabilities.
The minister ended his statement by recommending that the Inspector General of Services should study the possibility of putting in place a platform whereby, the MINSEP, the CNOSC and the Athletes Commission can come together and work in close collaboration in other to facilitate the work of the Athletes Commission with it's president as the focal point.
