The Minister of Sports and Physical Education proceeded on Tuesday, 9th May 2023, to the official installation of members of the Local Organising Committee of the  WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL AFRICA NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP « CAVB CAMEROON 2023 » appointed by Decision no 2023/112 of May 4th 2023 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex. The ceremony which saw the presence of the Governor of the Center Region, the President of the National Olympic and Sports Committee, the President of the National Paralympic Committee as well as top officials of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, the appointees and few athletes of the National team of volleyball, kick started with the singing of the national anthem at exactly 2.45pm and was broadcast live on CRTV SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT. M. SAMUEL ZO’ONA proceeded with the reading of the appointment decision which directly gave way to the installation speech of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education. In His address, the Minister begun by showing gratitude to the Head of State who gave His very distinguished consent for the organization of the 21st edition of the  WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL AFRICA NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP « CAVB CAMEROON 2023 ». Thus, he reassured the President of the volleyball federation of the unfailing support of the Government to him as the newly elected president. Also, he called on all the actors, to place the organisation under the cover of unity, peace, love, acceptance, togetherness, and openness so as to ensure a fruitful reign and an abundant harvest in terms of results. He further mentioned while inviting all those present at the installation ceremony that the event to be organized on the 16th of May 2023 as from 5pm. This event being none other than the presentation and solemn handing over to Cameroon, of the two prizes won by our beloved country at the Global Eventex Awards In the United States OF America and at the BEA Awards in Italy.         It’s only after reminding everyone that Cameroon had become a privileged destination for the organisation of major sporting events that he ended his statement, thereof giving place to the family picture with the newly appointees. The ceremony ended with a family picture followed by a cocktail offered by the Minister to his guests.

MINSEP and UNESCO celebrate sport.        In the frame of  festivities marking the celebration of the 10th edition of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace under the theme «Sports Practice: A guarantor and vector of peace, inclusion, integrity, health and a lever for sustainable development”, a sport walk and other activities were organized on April 5, 2023 in the presence of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education at the Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex.          The activities marking the celebration of this event started at the Yaoundé 20th May Boulevard with a march led by the Minister of Sport and Physical Education and other personalities present at the 20th May Boulevard. The sport walk which started around 7:30 am, ended around 8:10 am at the Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex with an aerobic session followed by a speech made by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. In his speech, the minister welcomes all those present and beckons them to continue being massively present in all the activities that will be carried out in the two days celebration. He equally thanked the Governor of the Center Region for all the security measures put in place for a smooth and secured celebration. A family picture was taken marking the end of the sportive walk.       Apart from the sport walk, other activities were carried out like Futsal and Handball. In the women’s futsal match, MINSEP Women won 1goal to zero against MELTING POINT. While in the men’s category, two matches were played. In the first match, MINSEP defeated a selection made up of players from DRSEP and DDEP 3goals to null and in the second match, DASEP emerged the winner after trashing a selection of players from sports infrastructures in Yaoundé by 3 goals to 2. In women’s first handball match opposing women from all DASEPS and those from all sports infrastructure, DASEP won 11 goals to 5 and the second women handball match was opposing women from MINSEP and those from DRSEP and DDEP. The score at the end of the encounter was 17 goals to 11 in favor of MINSEP Women. The activities to commemorate this event will continue on April 6, 2023 at the Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex with notably sporting events, a round table as from 10:00 am, and an important ceremony to hand over sports equipment and awards to some personalities who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of sports as from 4.pm.
